Lisa Raposa Millar, DMA has over two decades of teaching experience. Prior to moving to Ontario in 2014, she taught piano at community schools and universities in Quebec and the Northeastern U.S. She thoroughly enjoys helping students develop their musical gifts at the piano.
Currently, Lisa is a member of Ensemble CO3 (Amanda Lee, violin; Tova Rosenberg, cello) and has performed in concerts with her husband and pianist-partner Gregory Millar since 2008 (Millar Piano Duo).
Lisa has served as an adjudicator for the North Hastings Music Festival, Pickering GTA Music Festival, Newmarket & Area Branch of ORMTA Auditions, Massachusetts MTNA Performance Competitions, Merriam Music Festival, CCC Music Festival, and OMFA Provincial Competitions among others. From 2018-2021, she was Vice President of the Etobicoke-Mississauga Branch of ORMTA in which capacity she revitalized the organization’s website, facilitated the move to digital registrations, and created tutorial videos for teachers on how to sign up for events.
Lisa Raposa Millar earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the University of Rochester – Eastman School of Music where she was a recipient of an Excellence in Accompanying Award. She received a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Performance Study: Piano) at the University of New Hampshire. Her principal teachers were JoAnn Mello (pre-college), Arlene Kies (UNH), Estela Olevsky (UMass), Jean Barr (ESM – Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music), and Nelita True (ESM – Solo Piano).
